So we were waiting for the County to record the title transfer of the property to close escrow. The County supposedly does all their recording by noon and we would be able to get our keys no later that 2:pm. After waiting around all morning and afternoon 5:00 approaches and still no answer from the escrow company. They did were not even returning my phone calls from since noon.
We finally get a call at 5:pm from our agent seeing if we can go right away to finally get the keys from the escrow company who is now closed. We end up zooming through rush hour traffic to try to get there before the guy (who never once returned my phone calls) left for the day. We are going down the road, the kids are fighting and the battery on my cell phone is dying. What joy was ours.
We manage to finally get the keys without too much more problems and make our way to the house to look it over and change the locks. But by the time we get there, it is dark. There is no electricity, water or gas. And what's more, we won't be able to hook up any utilities until after the 3 day weekend.
Everybody keeps asking us if we are excited about the house but it has been such an ordeal the entire way that it is difficult to muster up any real enthusiasm now that this part of it is done. Hopefully things will be a little different at the light of day tomorrow.

We went through a similar thing, waiting on Friday to get the keys! Except the people (they were nice but got annoying) that were in the house didn't even have everything out of the house. We had to wait another 3 days! I was P.O.ed! As I am sure you could imagine. But we patiently waited... I was so excited to finally get in and start cleaning on (the following Thursday!) Once all the escrow junk is over it gets so exciting!!
How exciting for you, but our ward will miss you.
I diddo that comment Wileen!
