We have 3 days left to finish moving and clean up. They are moving our phone lines some time today and I will lose my internet connection as there is no DSL where we are moving. So apparently, our only choices appear to be cable (which we do not want and cannot afford) or back to dial up. Unfortunately, I think we will have to go for the latter.
Over the weekend, our good friends the Jorgensons watched the girls for us and Christian's dad and his brother and his brother's wife came up to help us move again. My brother also came out to help. On Monday, Trevor and Joanna came by to help. We were on our own Tuesday but on Wednesday the missionaries came over and helped most of the day. They even brought an extra pair of missionaries to help in the morning.
Anyway, we are just so grateful to all our friends and family that has supported and helped us through this new venture. You guys are the best!

The week in review...
On Monday, we decided that we could not put off cleaning the house any longer. Although, we still did not have any utilities due to the holiday weekend. Christian dragged out our trusty water barrels and emptied them enough to load up into the truck and hauled it over for me to start washing down the walls. I pumped the water out into buckets to start work. It took me two days to wash down all the walls (or at least the ones in rooms that is carpeted). But on the second day, we finally got running water and gas and electricity to get hot water to clean with.
On Wednesday, I started on the carpets. That took me another two days because the carpets are so filthy that I had to go over and over on them in the hopes of getting them clean. I was not as successful in the end as we had hoped. But as we are unable to buy new carpeting at the moment, it will have to do.
While I was at the house cleaning for the last four days, Christian was going back and forth picking up loads and picking up and dropping off our oldest to school and dragging our little one around in tow.
We had hoped that on the fifth day we would be able to get some more actual furniture into the house but the light rains we got on and off all day made that somewhat impossible, so Christian continued to clean out all the stuff we've stowed away in the attic space above the garage and the rest of the tools and workbenches, etc. out of the garage (i.e. his workshop).
Now our new garage is almost entirely filled up so we hope that the carpet will be dry enough and we won't get rained on while we move more of our actual house furnishings. I spent the afternoon scrubbing down all our kitchen cabinets. I managed to get that done, but only on the outside! I still need to clean inside!
So my body has been aching all week from all the hard manual labor and long hours and I have lost absolutely no weight. That's zero, zilch, zip, nada. How is that fair?

A day of rest
Today, we rested from our labors and our awesome home teacher and his wife made dinner for us and we got to just hang out and play games. We will start our labors again tomorrow.
Moving
Yesterday, we did day one of moving in earnest. Because we have no water or electricity to clean the inside of the house, we decided to concentrate mainly on moving the outside stuff. And you wouldn't believe how much stuff we have to move just on the outside of our house. We've been collecting wood over the years mainly for our fire pit/bbq and the mudbrick oven (which we never finished and had to disassemble). Christian's Dad and brother both came up with chainsaws. And they cut logs all morning and afternoon. I wanted to get pictures of them cutting the logs and the two huge truckloads we took to the house, but I was helping load the truck and was too distracted to remember to take pictures. And we aren't talking about loading Christian's little pick up truck, we were loading Christian's dad's full size pick up. That was a lot of wood. And believe it or not, we aren't done yet. We probably have one more small load. But as everyone was exhausted, we called it a day by the late afternoon. Our friend Marian also came out to help (after working a 71 hour work week).
Next, our friends, Dan and Seth came by in the evening to help us move the piano and sofa. We tried to move it on our own with the help of our friend Marian, but it wasn't going to happen.
And man, am I sore today!

Keys
So we were waiting for the County to record the title transfer of the property to close escrow. The County supposedly does all their recording by noon and we would be able to get our keys no later that 2:pm. After waiting around all morning and afternoon 5:00 approaches and still no answer from the escrow company. They did were not even returning my phone calls from since noon.
We finally get a call at 5:pm from our agent seeing if we can go right away to finally get the keys from the escrow company who is now closed. We end up zooming through rush hour traffic to try to get there before the guy (who never once returned my phone calls) left for the day. We are going down the road, the kids are fighting and the battery on my cell phone is dying. What joy was ours.
We manage to finally get the keys without too much more problems and make our way to the house to look it over and change the locks. But by the time we get there, it is dark. There is no electricity, water or gas. And what's more, we won't be able to hook up any utilities until after the 3 day weekend.
Everybody keeps asking us if we are excited about the house but it has been such an ordeal the entire way that it is difficult to muster up any real enthusiasm now that this part of it is done. Hopefully things will be a little different at the light of day tomorrow.

Waiting game
Yesterday we finished signing the last of the escrow papers for the new house. We brought in the balance of our deposit and the bank wired the rest of the funds. So we should have been able to close escrow yesterday. But apparently the county only records on Fridays so we have to wait until today in order to get the keys to start moving in earnest. We've been sitting around all day so far waiting for the okay to go in and pick up the keys and it is just excrutiating.
