January was fairly uneventful. We stayed home for the rest of Christian's winter break. Christian wasn't feeling that great after our trip to see the girls over Christmas so he spent the rest of the time recuperating enough to return to work.
The girls were off still during the first part of January as well. Their cousin, Michaela, went up from Utah to visit with some friends she met on her mission and stopped by to spend a day with the girls. She took them to the Tetons so they got to get out one more time before school started. They got a bunch of new stone right as the winter session began. And by the end of their first week, they got a blizzard warning. They were looking at temperatures as low as -28 degrees F with heavy snow and wind. They are not so thrilled to be going to school in Idaho this winter.
My mom was scheduled to get bunion surgery this month. My sister stayed with her the first week. I went to stay with her for her second week. She is recovering well.
At the end of the month, we all went back to celebrate her 85th birthday. Wendy and Tommy picked out a Toisan restaurant in Hacienda Heights and Norman took us out. I baked her a Japanese Cheesecake to celebrate. Only Norman's kids were in attendance.
My mom is back on her own for now. She is able to get around a little on crutches now. My brother and his family is supposed to stop by now and then for the next couple of weeks to help her out with a few little things and my sister stocked her up on supplies before taking off back to the Bay Area.I'll probably head back to take her to her follow up appointment next month.
